3 Reasons Why I am Not Successful?
It is easy to learn different strategies behind success but those strategies are not always successful for everyone. Only a few people are truly successful in life as evident from the lives of people around the world.
Are you confident that you have implemented it 100% successfully? Are you one of the people who implemented different methods in life mentioned in various books about success without having any expected results?
The reason is that it’s easy to learn different mindsets but difficult to possess one in reality. This inability of the mind is also responsible for the mind. This is how the mind works.
The affirmation and motivational words such as ‘I will stick to my goal, I will achieve it are not always effective. It really depends on how you have control over your mind power. (Read also 6 Reasons Positive thinking doesn’t’ Yield the Desired Result)
If you have better mind control, then the path towards success is an open road. You can easily develop a particular mindset. It doesn’t mean that all successful people have controlled their minds but they have possessed or acquired such a mindset for success. (Read also What is Mentality of the Most Successful People?)
Our emotions, actions, qualities, and the very nature of the mind depend on the responses of the subconscious mind. Some qualities have roots deeply buried in the mind. These all show that how powerful our minds in every aspect of our life.
There are many factors of mind that work against your success. The world’s prominent authors and psychologists considered a few of them that are readily responsible for the failures.
1. Fear
Fear is a natural inborn emotion in humans and animals. There’s nothing wrong with it. But, it also has the attribute to obstruct our path destructively.
We have to consider this destructive nature of fear. It is one of the top factors that work against your success.
Napoleon Hill in his work ‘Think and Grow Rich,’ – has researched success for more than 20 years by studying the lives of real personalities. He came up with some of the remarkable factors of mind that are responsible for success. In which, he highly recommended overcoming the six fears of mind to become successful at anything.
He says that these fears are the primal cause that works against your success. He ordered it according to its importance where the ‘fear of poverty has the significant share. He ordered it in this manner as to how far it can inflict a person’s mind.
If you are in the age range of 20 – 50, the most powerful and concerning fear will be the fear of financial security. According to him, mental states such as doubt, indecision, over-caution, indifference, etc. are symptoms of this fear.
This fear will not be directly evident. Its influence is such that you stick to a job where you do not want to take risks because of this fear.
If you are wealthy – not a ‘self-made millionaire’ still this fear follows you as you don’t want to lose the millions.
In most cases, this fear is not directly linked with financial security. However, your actions are unconsciously related to it that the fear is deeply hidden and shielded in the mind.
If you are wondering how this fear is related to your success, here is an example. It is similar to how your mind responds when you perceive a piece of rope as a snake’- a popular philosophical metaphor. It is the false belief that works against your instincts. This has a basis for the rational belief that snakes are dangerous.
The loss of wealth or financial insecurity is the rational fear. Oftentimes in life, your mind creates a false belief of financial insecurity that is irrational and obstructs your path towards the goal. This irrational fear perceived as real is the role of the subconscious mind.
The best way to become fearless is to know your fear by chasing it and not running away from it. Even the fear of success is your enemy.
2. Negative Beliefs
“Man often becomes what he believes himself to be.
If I keep on saying to myself that I cannot do a certain thing,
I may end by really becoming incapable of doing it.
On the contrary,
If I have the belief that I can do it,
I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have it at the beginning.”
— Mahatma Gandhi
Don’t underestimate the power of mind whether it works with your wish or works against you.
Most of our significant activities rely on the Belief System, a truly psychological phenomenon. I already mentioned that the childhood experiences, lifestyle, personal incidents that greatly influenced the subconscious mind are responsible for forming the belief system.
In the article ‘Why people have a consistent belief in the religion’ I said that how these belief systems powerfully influence the mentality of man.
A strong belief system can influence the attitude, behavior, and readily affect how he perceives the world. There’s also a little role of genetic factors of that person too.
Everyone is unique and has a different set of mental attributes. If a person is very confident in nature, he has a basis in such type of belief system.
It is a little hard to analyze what is the belief system that has a positive effect on our life and the belief system that would negatively influence us.
It might be an incident in real life or in a movie that happened in the childhood days such that a wealthy man has been stabbed to death. Here, how the mind perceived this incident plays a prominent role.
This incident might feed the subconscious mind with the attribute that resists the wealthy mindset. (Read also 8 Life Lessons from Warren Buffet to have Ultra-Wealthy Mindset)
As a result, this person won’t be fit for high-paid jobs even if he badly wanted them. His subconscious mind works against it. This all happens without the awareness of the conscious mind.
Some beliefs can positively contribute to life.
There are many such hard-coded beliefs in the subconscious mind. Our life activities are the net result of such beliefs.
It’s one’s own responsibility to find out the beliefs that work against one’s instincts. And, replace it with the positive one.
If you are feeling less confident in some instances then there would be some hard-coded belief hidden deep in the mind. You are born confident. The child is confident. As you grow up, you learn how to become less confident. Unlearn it, that is, throw away such negative belief systems. You become confident.
Try to realize such false beliefs by digging deep within you.
3. Restlessness
Sometimes, the mind requires positive steps such as subliminal programming, auto-suggestion, etc. These all might not be 100% effective yet such attributes can positively contribute to you.
Auto-suggestion and programming of the mind are ineffective to the restless mind. This is the state of unclear mind.
The rational ability decreases if the mind is restless. No ingenious or worthy steps are possible in this state of mind. This restless state of mind can be seen in different types of people.
For instance, if you have high-profile goals such as becoming a self-made entrepreneur, influential social reformer, or honor a highly reputed post, etc. then you are more prone to such a state.
Upon the influence of many factors in life, that if you couldn’t achieve it. Probably, your mind starts to shift towards a restless state. The major cause is the influence of the surroundings where your peers and the folks around you are successful and leading a better life than you.
But this depends on the nature of surroundings too. The studies showed that a person who is unemployed in a region where there is a high rate of employment is prone to more stress than a person in a region of high unemployment.
It is the instinct of the mind to compare the life of others around you. The result of the comparison is restlessness. If such a state continues, the mind loses its interest. There will be a tremendous drop in the level of self-confidence and he acts accordingly in most social situations.
I have chosen this example because these goals are more prone to many failures and hard to achieve.
Many factors are responsible for the restless state of mind. The only way to overcome this situation is to fight back and resist. Take action and make aware that giving up is a shameful death, even the failures are prestigious. (Read also 8 Character Traits Mentally Strong People Avoid in Social Settings)
