Anahata Chakra

Anahata chakra is the heart chakra, so it corresponds to the cardiac plexus in the physical body and situated in the center of the chest. This energy center is present within the Sushumna Nadi which emanates from the Muladhara. This is also one of the significant vortexes as the aspirant can feel the power of this vital psychic point while meditating in this. This vital psychic point has the control of energy over the heart. It is from here all the divine qualities begin to show up in the yogi and he will be raised to the list of noble persons.

As shown in the figure with fifteen petals are the corresponding number of nadis emanates from this energy center. These nadis also have unique subtle vibrations. It is said that the sound of A-U-M is heard at this psychic center as when the aspirant experiences the divine inner calmness in meditation. Certain sattvic qualities also experienced in this chakra. The seed mantra for this energy center is Yam.

In the book “Why Kundalini Meditation So Special?” I have explained experiences related to this chakra and also the feeling which can be perceived through the physical sense organ. One of the important features of this anahata chakra is that when it gets activated or meditated upon, the aspirant can feel the limitless cosmic love. This cosmic love is not a temporary one but bestowed in him and thus changes the human nature. That is why every genuine siddha yogi has the divine qualities such as the cosmic love, kind, benevolence etc.

Nature of Anahata Chakra

The term anahata is a Sanskrit word which means ‘limitless’ or ‘incessant’. Therefore, this energy center has a limitless attitude to the psychic aspect related with it. It is stated in the yoga texts that this energy center has a special role in love. That is why the feeling of love can be experienced in the heart center instead of the inducement of the chemical in the brain. (See How Yogic Practice Controls Mind over Love?)

The anahata chakra is related to the air element of that of the five philosophical basic ingredients of the body and has full control over the respiratory system in humans. This is also the residing place of the soul.

It is from this fourth level heart chakra that one get detached from the material concerns and the progression to the spiritual concerns becomes dominant. Thus, showing the detachment in the yogi from the worldly desires and its influences, which make him firm and insensitive to the sorrows. The ability to detect the feelings of the others becomes apparent, besides the unselfishness, nonviolence are the other traits that become predominant in the kundalini meditation practitioners.

With the full potent in this anahata chakra, the Sahasrara chakra reaches its frontiers and this can be possible only if the anahata energy center is fully opened in all respect such as doing actions without expecting anything in return, even though one will be gifted with the fruits of the actions as mentioned in the karma yoga.

Mystical Powers

It is said that those who meditate in this chakra with the higher levels of energies will have the power to control and command the air or wind at will. He can even control the storm, hurricanes, and wind currents by a mere thought or word. He will be possessed with the power to rise above the ground and float in the air. (see Minor Siddhis )

The beginner in the spiritual practices with the requisite level of psychic energy can also float in the air while meditating on it. This is done by evoking the physical body in the astral plane. Here the physical characteristics do not disappear and the yogi really rises up in the physical plane.

Psychological Aspect

As I told before, the feeling of the unlimited love and kind to the other beings are the conducts that become apparent. He can amplify his thoughts thus reaching the limitless visions and enormous oceans of thoughts.

The ego-centered actions get slowly decreased and thus resulting in the detachment from the personal desires and material prosperity which befalls insignificant. He knows that he will be provided with the needed one as when it is required and only when the requirement is genuine. His goal and actions (karma) become clearer to him and this affects his behavior and the personality. These changes can happen only if the anahata chakra is fully opened and its power is higher. The book “Why Kundalini Meditation So Special?” gives a clear understanding of such practices and more over a guide for those who seek the path in this field.
